My Cannes Festival

From the look of things it seemed like a week before the Cannes Festival, everyone on the Croisette was busy and marching to the beat of the pre-Cannes drum, as always! Bright sun, bustling environment, busy store managers and hectic schedules for everyone!

While perusing books about some of my favorite photographers at a dear friend’s in Cannes, I stumbled across those vintage pics of Jacques Henri Lartigue and George Hoyningen-Huene. They exude effortless style, timeless elegance, and will no doubt in my opinion easily beat this year’s Croisette  looks.

In those times tourism was a -then priviledged- adventure, a new word which did not even exist in French, and was taken from the English.

Such  images are burnt into the collective retina. What a tribute to timeless beauty… Renee, who was one of Jacques-Henri Lartigue’s muses, epitomized the iconic avant-garde woman in the 30’s. Such an insight, a sense of style, stylish simplicity… that have continued to cast their spell way back from the 30’s!

Thank you Mr Lartigue, thank you Mr Hoyningen-Huene for the never-ending quest to always showcase beauty!
