Timeless beauty in Pompeii!

Beauty is subjective when you talk about it, obvious when you see it, essential when you think about it. At least that’s how I see it.
The Archaeology Museum of Naples displays such a magnificent series of mosaics and murals which decorated the Pompeii mansions… 21 centuries ago. Pompeii could have had about 20,000 inhabitants when it was devastated and buried on 24 August 79AD. Mount Vesuvius erupted and covered the entire city with ash, which was then engulfed by  a wall of volcanic mud. The large number of well-preserved frescoes and mosaics throws a great light on everyday life in their time and have been a major advance in Art History.
Who were these characters stricking the pose? What were their names? Were they real? What did they represent ? Wouldn’t you have enjoyed meeting them?
